How many concerts will my child perform?
There are two concerts for the music classes - one in the winter and one in the spring. The Winter Concert is going to be at school during the music class time, and the Spring Concert will be held in the evening (possibly at an off-site venue).
How can my child be successful in vocal music?
Taking advantage of resources provided on this website, as well as meeting the grading requirement. Homework (25%) Tests/Projects (35%) Concerts (40%).
What type of homework assignments will my child be receiving?
Your child will receive homework that will be turned in via Google Classroom or Canvas. Instead of practice logs, students will be given assignments that will test them for specific skills, for both written musicianship and vocal technique. Each assignment your child has received is intended for them to practice skills on their own over time and learn how to become independent musicians.
Where can I find due dates?
Any assignment that is due, can be found in the Google Classroom Page on this website. It is linked to every google classroom no matter what school, you will be able to find the specific assignment. If you would like constant updates and reminders, please email Ms. Higgins at [email protected] to sign yourself up for those reminder emails.

Your child will participate in group vocal assessments, solo vocal assessments, written theory tests, aural theory tests, and sight-singing tests. These tests will all inform Ms. Higgins of how the child is doing individually and providing them the opportunities to become the best music makers they can be.
